How to Change or Cancel a Driving Test Appointment

Booking a driving test can be a daunting experience. It is the final step in taking the driver’s license test, and the pressure of passing can be overwhelming. But if for any reason you need to change or cancel your driving test appointment, it does not have to be complicated. Here are some tips to help you manage your driving test booking.

Change Your Driving Test Date
If you need to reschedule your practical driving test date, you can do this online at www.gov.uk/change-driving-test. You will need your email address and your Government Gateway ID (GGID) which was sent to you when you booked your initial appointment. The change must be made at least three working days before the original appointment. Any changes after that time will result in you losing the DSA test fee if full.

Cancel Your Driving Test Appointment
You can also cancel your appointment online at www.gov.uk/cancel-driving-test. The test needs to be cancelled 3 or more clear working days before the test for a full refund. If the test is cancelled less than 3 working days before the test, you will not receive any refund.

If for any reason you cannot access the online cancellation service, you may call the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) contact centre instead at 0300 200 1122—calls are charged at local rates from landlines and mobiles.

Bank holiday chaos

Please note for driving test changes or cancellations. The DSA requires 3 clear working days to change or cancel a practical test without losing your test fee. Bank holidays and Sundays are not regarded as working day. Please keep this in mind when you plan to change or cancel your driving test.

Now go forth and get your licence!
