Electric bikes are constantly growing in India these days. Entrepreneurs are optimistic in this business, admitting the low sales trends. In India, there are more than 40 e-bike companies manufacturing electric bikes. Almost all companies importing electric bike parts in completely knocked down (CKD) kits from countries like China, Taiwan and assembling in India and selling in India.

Being keen about product quality & market capture, Indian companies are currently concentrating on

1. The celerity of affection CKD kits at bell-ringer end to abate the inline affection issues.

2. Investing in R&D and indigenizing the e-bike components and developing them in India. This helps the manufacturers have a better control over quality. Some companies developing e-bike dealers & service equipment manufactures.

3. Good after sales service. The whole electric bike technology is new, the more the company cares its costumers more goodwill it gains.

E-bike business in a beginning stage, there are abounding business opportunities are apparent for advancing years. Taking E-bike accomplishment into consideration, there are companies like Hero electric, Ampere Vehicles pvt ltd, Ultra Motors ltd, Lectrix Motors Ltd, TI and abounding added establishing themselves into this business. Hence, no company yet captured this business. This simply means that still there is a scope for a newbie to come and stand in the business of manufacturing electric bicycles.

During my work experience of 4 years in this electric bike R&D; my team was tired of looking for vendors who can make a single e-bike part in India. As these parts are imported from outside, they are of non-standard for Indian vendors. This beat the vendors to assignment in developing them as they are bleak about E-bike business as a whole. This forces the OEM to import which increases the cost of the e-bike. Increase in cost reduces the motivation in costumer to buy. Hence it requires the initiation to build this business and everybody should be part of it.

With this addition of accent of the indigenization, we will altercate the assorted business opportunities associated with e-bikes.

Various parts of electric bikes & related business, can be classified as follows

1. Sheet Metal & Tubular parts – Chassis, Front fork, Handle bar, Swing arm, Centre stand, side stand.

2. Plastic & PP parts – Front mould, Side covers, Handle cover, Seat, Side lower covers, etc.

3. Drive alternation genitalia – Electric Motor, Power Electronic controller, Batteries, Charger, DC-DC Converter.

4. Electric & lighting accessories – Head lamps, Indicator lamps, Buzzer, Horn, Wire-harness , Connecting sockets, etc.

5. Miscellaneous parts – brake levers, Electronic accelerator (Throttle), Switches, Speedometer, etc.

6. Dealer and account equipments – Hydraulic tools, jigs, ramps, banker analysis equipments for electrical components, etc.

The above list goes on and on. The objective in classifying & listing the parts is to show that a business opportunity lies in making each of the above parts. Almost 60% of the above parts are same as that of convectional automobile parts but with some dimensional change. It is true that a lot of R&D is required to develop a good quality and suitable product but it starts with the initiation from every entrepreneur.

Indian Entrepreneurs should booty the claiming of developing and accumulation aftermath the electric bike apparatus which abate the assembly amount of the bike and ultimately the amount to the costumer. This will lead to more sales of electric bikes & vehicles. This will increase the share of e-bikes on road to the convectional vehicles. This reduces the tail pipe emissions and noise pollution leading to pollution-free Earth.

Are electric bikes, or e-bikes, a boon or bane for the environment? Researchers at the University of Tennessee are taking a look at the rapid growth of e-bikes in China, and
Study on the main effects of this type of transportation on mobility. Number of electric bicycles to about 40 million in China, which is far beyond the number of cars on the roads and in some cities, more than many people powered bicycle.

Christopher Cherry Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee, began his research on the impact of e-bikes when he was a doctoral student at the University of California-Berkeley. Cherry lehrt im Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

Cherry found that two serious environmental impacts are occurring as a consequence of e-bikes, which themselves produce no emissions. While the environmental impacts are indirect, they are no less dire to urban areas struggling with pollution and overpopulation. Beijing and Guangzhou, both the use of e-bikes are relegated to the streets.

Electric bicycles use one car-sized lead acid battery per year. Each battery is 30-40 percent of lead emitted into the environment during production, has published what it said approximately 3 kg of lead emitted per battery produced, Cherry in an article by the National Science Foundation.

The other significant environmental effects from emissions from coal-fired plants that produce electricity-hungry Chinese economy. China has increased its efforts to build the plant, because the economy is booming, with an estimated coal plant coming online every month for the next 2 to 3 years.

“The e-bikes or folding electric bikes certainly have fewer negative impacts than personal automobiles, but currently displace mostly bus and bicycle users and only a small number of car users,” Cherry said.

The electric bicycle is the transportation of the future – today. An electric bike you can replace 2 or 3 cars, in some cases, even your vehicle only. Your electric bicycle can do a good amount of the trips you’re using your car for. Customers use their electric bicycle to go to work on a daily basis, to go across college campus, to go to the tennis court, to go for a joy ride around town or for shopping at your local Walmart.

Electric bicycles are the new way to get around..”

As well as or even faster than your car, your electric bicycle can really do most of your trips. Make a list of how you use your car. I bet you don’t have to haul anything but your briefcase, backpack, and a shopping basket of extra stuff and don’t go more than 8 miles 8 out of 10 times. Electric bikes our next generation is still very affordable and are now lower, like $ 400 to $ 900 for the price of a reliable launch. Electric bicycles are the new way to get around. Your e-bikes are car, bus or train to replace the shorter distance commutes.

Top speed of mopeds is limited by law to 30 mph. Often, it requires a driver’s license and registration. The small scale of 15 to 40 miles (varies by model), too short errands and travel. They are nortorius for head gasket and other mechancial problems. The electric bicycle is much easier. An electric bicycle, which by law is limited to a top speed of 20 mph, reduces the risk of serious injury. (For off road, some have speed limiters that can be removed). Its shorter range of 15 – 40 miles (depending on model) is plenty for errands and short commutes. E-bikes or even folding electric bikes are the cleanest motorized vehicles both in terms of air pollution and noise. Their disadvantage compared to gasoline bicycles is that they are slower, and do not work as well with very cold temperatures. If you have a bike, you can bring an engine for $ 500. Or buy one of our purpose built e-bike for $ 600 – $ 1200. Either way,you can ride your e-bike without vehicle registration, insurance (check with your local state for their specific rules) or a driver’s license.

Electric Bicycles usage and relevance in today’s world.

The Electric Vehicle market place is an exciting and rapidly changing environment. There has been a relatively slow uptake globally for electric transport while electric motors and even cars have been around for some time. This is until now. In the super growth cities of China the acceptance, usage and integration of Electric Bikes is phenomenal. In fact this year, over 6 million electric bicycles for its domestic market alone was manufacture and sold alone China. With populations in the larger cities pushing 15 – 20 million people personal transport is a huge logistic, environmental and economic issue. Electric Bicycles are by far the most efficient personal motorized transport product available. The function of a power assisted bicycle makes perfect sense,in any city with high population densities.

Most commuters both at home and abroad average less than 15 km to and from their place of work. The average cost of a car to run back and forth from work to home is over 0 per week. In urban areas, the Electric Bicycle makes commuting a breeze. For around 5 – 10 cents per day per charge, the combination of pedal and power assistance allows commuters to travel distances of up to 50 KM! I would challenge any one to find a cheaper motorized transport option that makes almost no noise with no pollution! Even catching a tram in Melbourne is around each way making it almost 50 times more expensive than an Electric Bicycle.
Unbelievably some Australian regulatory authorities have challenged the use of the electric bicycle. In fact in some rural towns in NSW police have banned electric bicycles. While other countries not only have embraced the fabulous benefits of the electric bicycle we continue to drag our feet in integration this wonderfully efficient, non polluting, safe transport alternative. Globally most countries offer incentives to purchase electric vehicles including electric bicycle or folding electric bike to help keep the roads less congested, pollution down and provide an efficient transport option to consumers.

On 8 ElecTrec-speed electric bicycle is one of the best electric bikes, which, and is definitely a deal for the price of $ 1099 plus shipping. The ElecTrec is an an improved version of another electric bicycle called the LashOut. You can also find ElecTrec under its new name: Rayos. I’ll start with a little personal history, and answer the question “Why an electric bike?” and then go on to discuss some of the features of the ElecTrec. I would also like to highlight some of the negative.

To begin with, an answer to the question “Why get a geeky electric bike?” The answer is simple. I do not want to burn more fuel than I have to. Here in Southern California, gas is routinely .50 a gallon or more. Burning gas creates CO2,which contributes to global warming is another reason. You can still pedal an electric bike (as opposed to a scooter, for instance,) so you get some exercise. I have chosen to go back to being a one-care family, and bike more and donate my beater of a ’94 Saturn to charity. So it’s a good option for you to protect the environment.

Now, on to the ElecTrec. By clicking on the picture accompanying this article seeks, see, like a mountain bike with an engine on the rear axle and large battery touching the bottom of the tube. That’s because it’s a honking great battery on the down-tube and a mountain bike with a motor on the rear axel. What a shock. Here are a few more details are. The bike itself is a 17.5-inch steel frame full suspension bike. An 8-speed Shimano Altus gear set, with the shifter on the left grip provides ample range for most routine cycling.
